NEW DELHI: The Centre has led the Delhi authorities to abide by the standards of the National Food Security Act (NFSA) from June 30, including operation and installation of both e-PoS machines, establishing vigilance committees in the ration store level as well as running social audit in their own functioning.
Officials have not given what actions could be taken for failure to follow this”directive”.
The city receives approximately 36,000 tonnes of wheat and rice each month below the NFSA for supply one of the beneficiaries that are identified.
Sources said the major non-compliance is that the delay in creating the e-PoS system functional across fair price stores (FPS).
“This defeats the fundamental goal of transparency in supply of their subsidised foodgrains to the perfect beneficiary.
They haven’t complied with various provisions of this Act because October 2013,” said a source.

The Arvind Kejriwal government has blamed the Centre for obstructing its recurrence in doorstep program.
In a communication to the meals secretary-cum-commissioner of Delhi authorities, the meals ministry composed in Thursday that the Centre was pursuing the supply of foodgrains from all FPSs utilizing e-PoS machines to the past few decades.
“Over 12 letters/ DOs are composed to GNCTD from most degrees within this section.
On the other hand, the supply of foodgrains in Delhi continues to be performed with old/ guide register-based mechanics,” it stated.
Meanwhile, the Delhi government in April 2018 temporarily suspended supply of ration throughout the e-PoS system.
The Centre needs the Delhi authorities to execute e-PoS supply of foodgrains from most ration stores for post-secondary of the inheritance.
The ministry said it’s in breach of the NFSA.
The letter stated the usage of e-PoS machines is essential for execution of’One Nation-One Ration Card, that will profit migrant beneficiaries.
It’s flagged the town government hasn’t put in place some other machines for social audits in the ration store level without a vigilance committee was set up for tracking execution of NFSA.
The ministry said that the Delhi administration is also not keeping data on NFSA inheritance under the SC and ST classes.
