NEW DELHI: Compulsory accreditation for Covid vaccines isn’t a really attractive alternative because it isn’t a’formula’ that things along with other aspects including sourcing of raw materials and practice of human resources also have to be taken under account, Niti Aayog Member V K Paul stated on Thursday.
Paulthe Chair of the National Expert Group on Vaccine Administration to get Covid-19 (NEGVAC), noticed that technology transfer is the primary which stays in the control of this business that has completed R&D.
The government has faced criticism from several quarters within the lack of Covid vaccines involving the nation grappling with increasing diseases.
“Compulsory Licensing isn’t a really attractive alternative because it’s not a’formula’ which things, but energetic venture, training of human resources, sourcing of raw materials and maximum degrees of bio-safety labs that’s demanded,” he explained.
“In reality, we’ve gone one step before Compulsory Licensing and so are ensuring active partnership involving Bharat Biotech & 3 additional entities to increase generation of Covaxin,” Paul explained, adding that a similar mechanism has been followed closely for Sputnik.
On vaccinating kids, Paul explained,”now, no nation on earth is providing vaccines to kids” and the World Health Organisation does not have any excuse on vaccinating kids.
“There are reports regarding safety of vaccines in children, that were encouraging.
Trials in children from India will also be likely to start shortly,” he explained.
But, Paul noted that vaccinating children shouldn’t be determined on the grounds of fear in Whatsapp classes and since some politicians wish to play politics.
“It needs to be a conclusion taken by our own scientists following sufficient data can be obtained according to trials,” he pointed out.
Presently, three Covid vaccines have been found in India — Covishield made from the Serum Institute, Covaxin from Bharat Biotech and Russian-made Sputnik V.
Thus far, these experiments are accepted just for those aged 18 decades and over.
