New Delhi: The government on Tuesday said it was conducting an audit of NGOs and registered associations or given earlier permits under the Regulatory Law on foreign contributions (FCRA), with training for 115 NGOs completed between January 2021 and now.
“This audit is being carried out to fulfill the responsibilities carried out by the government based on ACT’s foreign contributions (regulations) of ACT, 2010 to regulate the acceptance and utilization of foreign contributions,” The State Minister for House of Nityanan and Rai stated that in the answer to the question at Lok Sabha.
For separate questions about whether the government considers exceptions to NGOs to receive contributions and assistance from individual donors abroad or donor agencies, Rai says there are no such proposals on the table.
“Every NGO is willing to do philanthropic work for social benefits can apply 24x7x365 on an online portal for previous registration or permission from the central government to receive and utilize foreign contributions,” he said.
The Junior Minister said 105 audit reports were completed on August 5, 2021, according to the specified procedure.
Observation of audits, he added, shared with each NGO / Association “in time”.
Rai, incidentally, also denied that the Ministry of the Houses had received reports that complained about “discriminatory bias” by government auditors.
Members want to know if there are government reports that show discriminatory bias by questioning NGOs about Muslim and Dalit employees and beneficiaries and also about the political Allegiances of NGO staff.
In accordance with MHA, there are 22,691 registered NGOs or given previous permits by the central government for the acceptance and utilization of foreign contributions including foreign supplies from foreign sources.
