Hyderabad: Congress on Saturday accused the fraud in the construction of Telangana Martyrs Memorial by the Government and demanded high-level investigations to expose those involved in embezzling public money.
Accompanied by a spokesman for AICC Dasoju Sravan and other senior leaders, Telangana Congress President, Revanth Reddy visited the martyr warning site to check the construction status.
Then, he told reporters that the project costs increased from Rs 60 Crore to Rs 180 Crore and that TRS assigned works to the contractor from Andhra Pradesh.
There are accusations that commission 6% of the total project costs are given to those involved in fraud and only investigations can bring the perpetrators to order, he said.
“Even though KCR has visited the Secretariat’s construction site, he did not visit the Telangana Martyrs’ warning site which was only away from the new secretariat site.

But now KCR itself commissioned all major projects to Andhra Contractors,” he accused adding that DNA test must be done at KCR to ascertain whether he really belongs to Telangana.
He demanded that the Government TRS must clarify the reason for the delay in the project execution and why the work was assigned to the Andhra contractor.
“After the formation of Telangana, CM KCr gave three great guarantees to the families of the martyrs.
Every family was promised by government work, financial assistance of 10 lakh, 2-BHK houses and 3 to 5 hectares of land planted.
It was also announced that world-class warnings will be built In Hyderabad to pay tribute to hundreds of martyrs who put their lives for state causes.
Seven years have passed but there is no respected promise.
More than 2,000 people sacrificed their lives for the cause of extinction but the Government TRS provided financial assistance to only 503 families, “said Revanth.
