Hyderabad: Former Minister Mohammed Ali Shabbir has accused the government of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) not to spend the budget allocated for minority welfare.
The Congress leader accused that per capita expenditure for minority welfare in Telangana was only Rs 147 per month.
“Not even 15 percent of the 1,602 crore Rs allocated in the budget for the financial year 2021-22 have been released in the last five months.
The Government TRS has allocated Rs 11,052 Crore for minority welfare in 2014-15 for 2021-22.
But the government has released only Rs 5,772.51 Crore in the last seven years, “he thought.
The Muslim population is around 48.45 lakh which is around 13 percent of the total population in the state.
Even if the overall expenditure on the minority welfare was rounded into Rs 6,000 Crore, the TRS government only spent RS 147 per month on every Muslim in the state, Shabbir Ali said.
“How Muslims can achieve growth, get education and work, start a business, protect Wakf Property, promote Urdu and carry out other well-being activities with a monthly budget of Rs 147 per person,” He tried to ask the Chandera Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.
