Ranchi: Jharkhand Congress, which is in power in alliance with JMM and RJD, is gearing up to roll out a month-long survey from July 1 to conduct its independent survey on the impact of Covid-19, including the fatalities and job losses, faced by affected persons in the state.
Congress president and finance minister Rameshwar Oraon said block-wise teams are being constituted to fan out the exercise across all the 24 districts.
He said, “In each block, we will deploy a 10-member team (Covid warriors) for house-to-house survey to assess the impact of Covid-19 in Jharkhand.
The teams will visit every house with survey forms in which they will register details about the family, job losses if any, help received or not from government, fatalities, among host of other details.” Notably, Oraon also holds food, civil supplies and consumer affairs portfolio, the department having mandate to ensure that no eligible person is left out of ration scheme run by union and state government.
On Monday, Oraon also held a meeting with his party MLAs and other office bearers to take stock of the preparations.
Party spokesperson Alok Dubey informed that everyone has been asked to submit a detailed report of the preparation in their area by June 30.
“The plan is to reach as many people as we can under this survey which we have termed it as outreach programme.
Each team will have the mandate to survey 15 houses and at least 200 houses during the survey.
Based on the findings, we will prepare a detailed report to submit to the state government with recommendations,” he said, adding that the programme is to apprise government on the ground situation to take corrective actions as per the need.
“Although the grand alliance government has managed to handle the second wave of Covid-19 in the most efficient manner as a result of which cases have now come down drastically and fatalities too are halted, the survey will aim to identify if any vulnerable families/people that exist on the ground so that they can be linked with government schemes,” he said.
