HYDERABAD: The Congress has appealed to the prospective buyers not to purchase government lands to be auctioned by the TRS government and that the Congress would give these lands back to the people if it is voted to power in 2023 in Telangana.
Congress floor leader in the Assembly Bhatti Vikramarka on Sunday minced no words when he said that the Congress would do everything it can to stop the precious government lands being put under the hammer.
“These lands were preserved by the previous Congress governments for the welfare of the future generations.
The TRS had opposed government land auctions in the undivided state but now chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao-led TRS government is all set to sell off the lands to raise revenues.
The Congress will try to stop the auction of lands,” Bhatti said.
Stating that state debts have already reached Rs 5 lakh crore including the borrowings of the corporations, Bhatti said now the KCR-led TRS government would lead Telangana into a state of bankruptcy by auctioning whatever remaining government lands in the state.
The debts have increased so much that the state now needs to borrow more to pay interest on the already borrowed amounts, he said.
Bhatti demanded that the TRS government publish a white paper on the debts incurred so far, extent of lands already auctioned and those identified to be auctioned.
The Congress will launch a movement to save the state from bankruptcy, he added.
