Hubballi: The two national parties – Congress and BJP – seem to be dithering to announce the names of each candidate for a poll that will come to the Council of the State Legislature.
Uncertainty seems to have gripped the two parties, who seemed confused to determine potential winning credentials.
Congress was reportedly considered to deploy Muslim candidates after several officials, including senior leaders, after making formal requests for this effect.
With candidates from other communities also throwing their hats on the ring, Congress seems to face many troublesome problems.
Among those from the Muslim community who are competing for tickets including the Karnataka Pradesh (KPCC) Congress Committee of President Saleem Ahmed, former Minister of AM Hindasgeri and Shakir Sanadi, son of former MP IG Sanadi.
However, the former Minister of Main Siddarama, along with former Minister of Zameer Ahmed and Santosh Lad, reportedly lobbying for Ismail Tamatgar.
On the other hand, the leader of the senior Congress and all Indian Congress Committee Secretary General HK Patil lined up to get a ticket for the former Hindasgeri Minister who has twice represented the election of the Local Agency in the Legislative Council.
Anand Gaddadevarath, but another candidate for Congress tickets, might get a nod, should the party decide against the Muslim face in the poll.
There was no deficiency of contestants for BJP tickets, with 17 have thrown their hands.
Among the competitors is Pradeep Shettar, a former brother of CM in Jagadish Shettar.
Secretary General Karnataka BJP Mahesh Tenginkai said that the party will complete the candidate’s name in a few days.
The Karnataka unit from this party has reportedly sent a short three-name list to the BJP Central Leadership.
However, Tenginkai refused to reveal the names of the three candidates.
