Gurgaon: Project to rebuild Mahavir Chowk through the construction of the lower road, trail, and road service cannot be completed before March.
The Department of Public Works (PWD), which carry out work on behalf of the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA), has set deadlines December 31 and then January 15 for the project.
PWD officials said they would take about two and a half months to complete all work.
Although it works on developing underpasses quickly, it will take another month to complete the structure, while working on road service has been detained because of delays in shifting some electrical cables that fall in their harmony, they said.
“The utility that blocks the service road is being shifted, and underpasses are also almost ready.
The path will take time because some utilities need to be shifted.
However, we can open underground roads and services without walking too.
Working on the path can continue even After the road opened for the vehicle movement, “said a senior PWD official.
PWD previously hoped to open the intersection between December 31 and December 15.
“This deadline is set after taking into account the utility shift and removal of the barrier.
But because of the prohibition of construction, the work has been detained for several weeks.
At that time it must also be added to the target date proposed, so that everything will be postponed.
We have about two and a half months of work still still remaining on the project, “added the official.
The project to change Mahavir Chowk and facilitate traffic congestion in the area was conceptualized in 2018.
The work began only in January last year.
The project includes underpass development between Old Delhi Gurgaon Road and the Bus Stand Road, a high walkway that connects all the ways from the intersection and road service.
Although the project has an early 18-month deadline, work has been repeatedly delayed due to the next pandemic and locking and lack of labor, repetitive prohibition on construction due to high pollution levels, and delays in the utility shift.
