NASHIK: The total number of active containment zones in Nashik city has further dropped due to reduction in the number of active patients.
The city has recorded 37% drop in active containment zones in the last seven days.
The number of active containment zones has declined from 407 on June 15 to 256 now.
Of which, there are 90 active containment zones in Cidco, 50 in Panchavati and 45 zones in Nashik Road division, while remaining 71 are in other three divisions – Nashik East, Nashik West and Satpur.
Around one-and-a-half month back, the city had around 1,600 active containment zones across six divisions of the city with majority of them in Cidco and Panchavati.
However, there has been a huge drop in new cases since the first week of May, leading to a drop in the number of active containment zones.
According to medical superintendent of Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) Bapusaheb Nagargoje, the restrictions imposed by state government and district authorities have yielded good results, leading to a drop in the number of new cases.
The total number of active containment zones has also reduced with the drop in new cases and rise in recoveries of Covid patients.
The NMC had only 500 active patients by the first week of February, but the cases started increasing thereafter.
The number of active patients in Nashik city increased up to 28,000 by April 23.
However, active patients have now reduced to 1,179.
Of these, 614 patients are undergoing treatment in civic and private hospitals as well as CCCs while remaining 571 are under home isolation.
The city recorded its first Covid patient in April last year.
Since then, a total 36,950 containment zones have been drawn, of which, 36,694 have been released.
