Mangaluru: A study conducted by researchers from Mangaluru and Bahrain, published in ‘Natural Springer’, has emphasized that undergraduate and postgraduate students (UG, PG) are now adapted to online classes.
Therefore, at least one class must be held online every day, the study recommends.
A study entitled ‘Covid-19 and its impact on the educational environment in India,’ was published on Tuesday by global research, education and global professionals.
It was done by Niyaz Panakaje, assistant professor and research guide at a private university in Mangaluru, Habeeb Uran Rahiman, University of Royal, Bahrain; Mustafa Raza Rabbani, Department of Economics and Finance, College of Business Administration, Bahrain University; Abhinandan Kulal, Department of Commerce, Mangalore University and Mahammadar Thauseef Pandavarakallu and Shakira Irfan, Postgraduate Study Department and Research in Commerce, St Aloysius College, Mangaluru.
Niyaz Panakaje, the main researcher, said this study focused on determining the perceptions of UG students, PG to the college education environment in Karnataka.
Various components of college education environment, such as online classes, teaching, learning, college activities, evaluations, colleges and administration, and teachers, are considered.
This study is descriptive, and data to collect from 347 students, including postgraduate.
This study was conducted by examining five Karnataka universities such as Mangalore University, Srinivas University, Yenepoya University, Bangalore University, VTU Besagavi, Nitte University, and Manipal University, representing the south, east, western and north.
Niyaz said the overall results showed that students had a positive perception of online classes.
The only problem is a bad network connectivity, he said.
Niyaz, in the conclusion of research, and its recommendations, stated that the college administration must hold a class at least one subject in online mode, because students are tailored to online classes.
It also helps them prepare in the case of future pandemics, he said.
“We also recommend for the state government of Karnataka to provide basic infrastructure facilities to college, so they can hold a systematic class.
Universities that have now been opened for offline classes will immediately shift into online mode if the lock is clamped because of the increase in Covid cases,” Niyaz stressed.
