NIDAL / GURGAON: Mannu Yadav, who was arrested by the ATS police in the probe in the alleged conversion racket, was the son of a taxi driver who lived with his family in Park Rajendra Gurgaon and changed his identity to Abdul Mannan on January 11 this year.
Earlier this month, after several run-ins with his family, he walked out, his father told Tii.
Mannu, according to some of his friends, has a job, meanwhile, in the logistics section of the e-commerce company.
After leaving the house, he lived in Farrukhnagar.
His family said they became aware of his religious trust that changed in 2017 and had made several attempts to prevent it but it only made him truculent and rebelled.
This April, a few moments after he showed his conversion certificate to them, Mannu’s father filed a police complaint, accusing his son has been brainwashed.
“We witnessed their behavioral changes and felt helpless because he was not ready to listen to us,” his father said, added Mannu has shown a family of converting certificates on February 17 signed by the Qazi Mufti from the center of Dawa Islam in Indonesia Jamia.
He accused three of his son’s friends – they learned together at a school for disabled people in Gurgaon – had a heavy influence on him.
Mannu has also studied at Noida Deaf Society (NDS), some of whom are targeted for religious conversion, the police up have claimed.
An official at a Gurgaon school confirmed that they studied in the same batch and had joined the Institute in 2003.
Denies knowledge about what happened in their personal life, the official added that the Institutes focus on education and development of students.
Mannu, who according to his family has submitted several C group work and group D and has also tried to work in the armed forces, leaving his home on April 16 but returned three days later.
In June, he left again.
“He told us that he would never return,” his father said, added he had received the WhatsApp call from an unknown number in April.
“The caller told me that despite all my efforts, I could not stop my child and that I could not change his mind,” said the father.
He said he went to the Gurgaon police after finding several videos on his phone which made him worry.
“DCP asked me to stay in touch with the local ACP Rajiv Kumar and sent two police officers following my complaint.
They visited once and tried to contact the local deaf and mute school to get a translator to interact with my son.
However, when they failed to find a translator, Don’t contact us, “said the father.
ACP (UDYOG VIHAR) Rajiv Kumar confirms receiving complaints about conversions.
Kumar said he had directed Sho of Rajendra Park to look into the complaint.
“He was asked to verify the accusation,” ACP said, added that the young man was aggressive and not ready to record his statement.
Kumar said the young man rejected his father’s allegations and claimed that he had changed his own free will.
“We tried to convince him and recorded his statement through translators but he did not work together,” Kumar said.
Since complaints involving the address in Delhi, where conversion has occurred, ACP said it was sent to the relevant DCP office in the capital with documents delivered by youth’s father.
Prashant Kumar, ADG (Law and Order), rose to TOI ATS investigating the role of all people and contacts whose names are being planted in investigations.

What happened for the past two-three days has left our deaf community and some angry also that even though there was a selfless work of NDS since 2005 , so many assessments are passed by several people.
We collaborate with ATS and provide support.
We have shared the details of some students whose names have been cut.
Some are former students.
I want to tell their parents that we sympathize with them.
