Convincing the ministry to remove tracking from HUID: Jewelry

Written by news2in

Nagpur: Jewelry, which is in the hug of the government over the unique ID system (HUID) for gold ornaments, now claiming they have convinced the ministry of consumers to remove the most controversial rules sections.
Jewelry said the ministry had agreed to remove the tracking mechanism of the distinctive characteristics.
Although, there is no official notification so far.
After Huid was brought recently, jewelry had made a one-day strike against him last week and also threatened to intensify agitation if their request was not fulfilled.
A meeting was held between trade leaders and the minister of union consumer workers Piyush Goyal on Saturday.
“The ministry has agreed to get rid of tracking mechanisms in Huid,” said Nitin Khandelwal, a member of the Government Appointment Committee in Huid.
He is also part of negotiations with the ministry.
After the meeting, Jewel and Jewelry Board (GJC), a trade association, also released a note that spelled the points discussed and agreed upon.
One point reads, “Transfer data on a jewelry account at the Indian Standard Bureau (BIS) will be immediately disabled.” Khandelwal said this means that the data uploaded on the BIS portal when the distinctive characteristic will not be transferred elsewhere.
“Huid calls for a unique number for every gold ornament, based on which, all transactions can be tracked.
The figures produced at the time of characteristics can track ornaments to the end of the customer.
The buyer’s details are also available,” Khandelwal said.
He said jewelry could convince the ministry that tracking would lead to unnecessary police.
Even buyers don’t want to have their details mentioned on the portal.
It has convinced that the feature will be removed, claimed to be Khandelwal.
Sources say jewelry is also worried that tracking can provide opportunities for tax agencies to raise requests that lead to the inspector of Raj.
“Sometimes, there is incompatibility for the original business reasons.
For example, a customer finally changes the design that reduces weight.
Under the Huid system, even pajuga tax can raise questions about severe differences and seek details about where the remaining gold is sold,” said source.
Kala is a system to state that certain gold ornaments have the same weight and purity as claimed by jewelry.
Before Huid, gold in terms of weight can be marked with a batch.
Under Huid, every individual ornament must be marked with a unique ID produced for it.
Rajesh Rokde from the Nagpur Sarafa Association said, “Association members will continue to suppress the demands to reduce further law.
The provision of imprisonment and licensing cancellation must also be eliminated.”
