Ranchi: Governor of Ramesh Bais on Thursday urged students to graduate from the University of Icfai Jharkhand to use their knowledge not only for professional growth but also for the progress of the community.
The governor was talking to students during a university meeting held in hybrid mode at Aryabhat Auditorium.
He appreciated the steps taken by the University of Icfai to provide quality education to students and help in building their character.
As many as 219 students who graduated in 2020 and 2021 were given degrees on the function.
Among them 11 students received a PhD, 70 graduate and the rest graduate degree.
Twelve gold and silver medals are given to toppers and students rank second in different subjects.
About 70% of toppers are female students.
Speaking as a guest of honor, Director of Managing Chairperson, Central Coalfields Limited, PM Prasad, suggested students not to be a mere job seeker, adding that they must try to become entrepreneurs while utilizing Jharkhand’s natural resources.
Welcoming the guests, representatives of the University Chancellor, Professor Or Rao, highlighted the various steps taken by their organizations to provide quality education to students to make them able to be employed and good citizens.
He said about 10% of his students had become entrepreneurs in various fields, including running solar-powered classrooms.
He said 86% of students at the University came from Jharkhand while the remaining 12 other states such as Manipur, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
He said the university provides cost concessions to students domiciled in Jharkhand.
Professor Rao also talked about university outreach programs where the improvement class, entrepreneurial training and paramedic training provided to those who were less able to live in neighboring areas.
