Patna: JD (U) on Sunday demands the establishment of the Coordination Committee in the 15-States National Democratic Alliance (NDA) at the national level.
JD (U) National Secretary General K Tyagi said the coordination committee or organizers in NDA were needed as in the era of former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee and JD (U) George Fernandes.
Speaking with MediaPereka before attending the National Council meeting JD (U) here, Tyagi said such a committee would help maintain the right coordination among allies of NDA and violate unnecessary statements issued by different alliance partner leaders.
“When Vajpayee was the Chairman of NDA, George Fernandes was once his national organizers.
Fernandes functions as Convener Nda until 2008.
He was replaced by Sharad Yadav, National President JD (U).
Yadav resigned because the convener immediately after JD (U) left the alliance on June 16, 2013, “said the senior leader JD (U) to Toi.
At present, JD (U) is BJP’s biggest allies in NDA with 16 members of Lok Sabha after 301 BJP members.
All members of JD (U) Lok Sabha come from Bihar.
Reacting to Tyagi’s request, BJP leader and Deputy Deputy Bihar Tarkishore Prasad said the top leadership of NDA would make a decision.
“There is no need for such a request by JD (U),” he said.
For a question, Prasad clarified that there would be a separate coordination committee for Bihar and at the national level.
He acknowledged that there would be better coordination among allies of NDA after the establishment of the Coordination Committee.
Nearly two months ago, Hindustan Awam Morcha (secular) was led by former Bihar CM Jitan Ram Manjhi also demanded the Coordination Committee in NDA at the state level.
