Guwahati: The Assam government on Tuesday suspended the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) for “Many foreign visits since 2011 without obtaining previous permits from the government”.
Senior IPS officers, Rounak Ali Hazarika, are currently posted as Digp in the border wing of the Police Assam.
A command issued by the State House and Political Department on Tuesday stated that the disciplinary process would also be started towards Hazarika for severe violations and said government guidelines.
Hazarika said never obtained a previous permission from the House Department for various visits abroad since he joined the Cadre Police Police (APS) in 1992 to date.

Hazarika was also asked to be at the police headquarters during the suspension period and did not leave a place without permission from DGP.
