New Delhi: Delhi police have been suspended from their duties because of the alleged attack and harassed fire service personnel in the Samaypur Badli area in the northern part of the city, officials said on Friday.
Assault allegedly happened on Thursday around 6pm, they said.
According to the police, Portable Jitender attacked and harassed a Delhi’s fire man who stopped him from driving on the wrong side of the road in Samaypur Badli.
The incident video is viral on social media.
In that video, Constables accused of wearing ordinary clothes, seen abusing and attacking fire extinguisher.
The police held a wooden stick in his hand and also tried to grab the firefighting cellphone.
The police rejected the allegations that Jitender was drunk at the time of the incident.
The fire department came from the place and headed to the fire station to recharge the fire engine, said the police.
In complaints of firefighters, a case under the relevant section of the Indian criminal code and Delhi fire service law has been registered at Samaypur Badli Police Station, said a senior police officer.
The defendant had been suspended from his duties and possibly arrested on Friday, the officer said.
Jitender was posted at the Samaypur Badli police station and was on leave from the last three days.
