Chennai: A sub-inspector inherent at the Kasimedu Police Station in Chennai died due to the poisoning of beetles while undergoing treatment at the Stanley Hospital in the government on Monday.
The doctor who treated him, said Si Ravi Selvam, 58, a resident of Police BB Silai in Otteri, died after the poison had spread throughout his body.
Beetle toxic stinged Selvam two years ago when he was on duty.
Since then, he has complained of pain in his leg, police said.
He was treated in many hospitals.
He took herbal medicine too.
Selvam complains of severe pain on Sundays.
He was sent to the Stanley government hospital where he died on Monday.
The body was handed over to family members after postmortem.
