MUMBAI: Even a police constable suffered a serious head injury and fracture to his left leg following a speeding scooter banged to him over the Western Express Highway (WEH) at Jogeshwari (East) while he had been about nakabandi responsibility. The victim identified as Vitthal Gadekar is recovering at Cooper hospital to the severe injuries he suffered on May 19. Jogeshwari Police detained the scooterist named as Saurabh Sawant (19) on Wednesday after he got discharged from the hospital when he had been earmarked to the attempt to murder, rash driving and causing irreparable harm charges. Gadekar’s state is vital and is stored at the intensive care unit (ICU). The incident happened on the southbound arm around the WEH, when Gaekar had been on nighttime nakabandi responsibility amid the weekend push to its lockdown to do it on speeding automobiles. “At about 10.20pm, Sawant, riding rashly rammed into Gadekar head-on. Gadekar, that sustained a leg injury from the collision, fell and struck his head. Others present in the place rushed Gadekar into Cooper Hospital for therapy,” stated a Jogeshwari police officer. Sawant too continuing injuries from the incident. He’s also becoming treated. “Sawant, a worker of the advertising firm, was on the way to his office and was driving in extreme speed. He explained he couldn’t recollect what went wrong and also struck Gadekar. He underwent surgery on his fractured leg. Afterwards he had been changed to Wockhardt hospital to get your bleeding he suffered from his mind. While he’s recovering, physicians assert his state is crucial,” stated the authorities.
