Rajkot: Keong Coral Rackets and Conch Scratches were taken from the city of Mithapur Devbhumi Dwarka on Tuesday by local forest officials.
They arrested the 50-year-old Parmar Vijay and won 218 kg of snail shells and 122 sea fans (coral) protected by wildlife protection laws.
According to forest officials, Parmar was used to sell these sea creatures in Mumbai and Nashik cities in Maharashtra.
The name Parmar appeared during an attack on merchants in Maharashtra.
The authorities of the neighboring country warned the Ministry of Forestry in Gujarat about illegal trade networks and also gave them Parmar suppliers from Mithapur.
Based on the tip-off of forest officials raided Parmar’s house on Monday night and found 218kg snail shells and 122 sheets of sea fans.
Assistant forest conservator Nilesh Joshi said, “Parmar is used to sell these creatures to Mumbai and Nashik traders for prices ranging from Rs 5 to Rs 400 for one Shell Keong, based on size.
While the sea fan is sold with Rs 700 per kg “These creatures are found on the rocky edge of the Arab Sea in various parts of Devbhumi Dwarka.
They were trapped in the fishnet in the port of Rupen and Dalda and allegedly that Parmar was used to buy it from them.
He used to supply sea and snail fans by training or taking him to Mumbai.
Parmar was produced in a local court on Wednesday that sent him to the detention of the tune.
