LONDON: Bianca Andreescu’s nightmare season continues on Wednesday when the 2019 Open US champion fell from Wimbledon in the first round, lost 6-2, 6-1 to announce Cornet of France.
The 21-year-old fifth seed missed Rome and Madrid because of the positive test of Covid-19 and then being torn down in the first round of the French Open.
CORNET, 31, the best run at Wimbledon is the fourth round in 2014, playing a match winner between Belgian qualifiers welcoming Minnen and Australia Ajla Tomljanovic.
It was the second time this month that Cornet had defeated Andreescu after dropping it in the second round of the Berlin tournament.
Andreescu is a famous famous female player to fail to advance to the second round.
Seven-time champion Serena Williams hobbled in her match on Tuesday and twice Wimbledon Victor Petra Kvitova was eliminated on Monday.
Andreescu will still win the main series match at Wimbledon after losing in the first round as a qualification in 2017.
