Corp to choose a PPP model in Park Maintenance, to call EOI

Thiruvananthapuram: With garden maintenance becomes a headache, City Corporation plans to expand public private partnerships in garden maintenance based on the generation of income models.
The corporation has completed the expression of interest (EOI) which calls for a PPP model in garden maintenance for a period of five years.
At present around four parks are managed by private companies / contractors and income from advertisements collected by the private sector.
The plan is to open all 43 parks in the city to maintenance based on the PPP model.
EOI is expected to be published this month.
“One of the main challenges relating to the park is maintaining high standards and professionalism.
In addition, the garden post will soon not be on the Civic body.

The corporation plans to increase the park with professional standards and we encourage the PPP model in garden maintenance, “said a corporate official.
As a proposal, private companies will be entrusted with garden maintenance for five years.
Depending on the space and properties of location, private parties can take income from advertising, public facilities, and parking fees.
In places like Gandhi Park, toilet facilities, and parking is available.
In places like Thampanoor and Vellayamblam, focus mostly on advertising.
Parks in the main area are converted into advertising zones so that the private parties that win offers can make money from it.
City Corporation had previously built an open air auditorium in various parks as part of the relics of the crowd and function in Gandhi Park and Park Ek Nayane, AKG Park in Pottakuzhy was designed with an open airstage and was intended to be used for public conventions.
The Civic body has improved Rs 2,000 per day for political parties and voluntary organizations and Rs 3,000 per day for personal individuals to order parks.
Patheesh Kumar said that the park will be open to the public with all basic facilities.
The ems park near the assembly complex is also changed, but it cannot attract many people because it does not have toilets and con counters.
The AKG park is the third open stage to be managed by the Civic body in the park.
