Corp to strengthen Covid steps at the environmental level

Thiruvananthapuram: The council meeting on Friday mapped an action plan to strengthen Covid prevention at the environment in all districts.
The plan includes the establishment of the Environmental Committee and Environmental Forum to assess the needs of covid patients on the ground and to ensure that preventative measures are strengthened against the third wave of pandemic.
The Environmental Level Committee will be formed in 100 wards in the district.
These committees will include politicians, health workers, environmental council members and junior health inspectors.
Meanwhile, the Environmental Forum will also bind 250 occupants associations into the initiative.
Team 10 members formed under this forum will include Asha workers, Kudumbashree and Anganwadi.
The aim of these forums is to identify patients, supply it with drugs and essence and ensure quarantine steps.
Chairman of the Permanent Health Committee of District P Jameela Sredharan said the company aims to conduct a survey from September 15 to assess how many populations between age groups 45 and 60 still need vaccination.
After preparing a data bank, the corporation will ensure that these people are vaccinated at the end of September.
Some members of the Opposition Board, including M R Gopan, Karamana Ajith from BJP and P Padmakumar from UDF, caused criticism of the government’s role in handling the second and future third pandemic waves.
“Those who are positively tested are treated like criminals.
This has created tension in several places,” Padmakumar said.
M Ropan said vaccination campaign was less successful.
“There is no effort taken to ensure that people tested positively quarantined and also to track their contact list.
There is also apathetic in vaccination people who need it.
The corporate ambulance cannot even handle the volume of patients who test positively,” he thought.
However, the comments were dismissed by Mayor Arya Rajendran which confirmed that the state vaccination policy was recognized as a success even by the center.
“About three crore people in the country have been vaccinated so far.
More than two lakh people in the age group 45-60 have received the first dose.
At present only 30% of people from this group remain vaccinated that we will be sure in the coming weeks.
Covid district case is contained because there has been a drop in a case, “he said.
