Coimbatore: To ensure the house at the end of the water channel get adequate supply, the corporation has sent a detailed project report to the city government commissionary to install valves in the water distribution lane at a cost of 5.30 crores.
After cleaning, the corporation will launch a project in 40 wards that have been abandoned in the roundwater supply project.
60 others from 100 wards in the city covered under the project carried out by Suez, a French company.
What happens now is part of the house in a stretch of getting more than 40 hours of water supply, while the part of the house in the end of the distrubtion line hardly gets a few hours of supply, said the corporate commissioner King Gopal Sunkara.
Overflowing water causes water waste in areas where water is supplied for hours.
Automation of water supply using new valves can reduce water waste and ensure efficient supply, he said.
While automatic drinking water supply ensures the same pressure in the entire distribution path at 60 wards, civilian bodies plan to introduce the same in the rest.
Of the 40 wards utilizing their own funds.
“The same and adequate water distribution is a top priority for civilian bodies.
At present, Turncock is a manual operating valve.
This results in an uneven distribution of water, and no accurate data available on the amount of water distributed to each region , “Commissioner said.
“When the Electricity Minister promises people during the makkal Sabha program, drinking water will be distributed once in two days.
After the mass flow meter is installed in the required place, the amount of water drawn in the reservoir will be compared to the amount of water that reaches the household.
