Coimbatore: City Corporation on Monday continued to expulsion for driving along Lake Krishnampati and destroyed 68 houses in Bund to allow rejuvenation and beauty projects.
The Civic body has removed 97 houses on Jalan Gokulam along the lake, said a corporate official.
“On Monday, we destroyed 68 houses in the Ex-Serviceman colony along the east side of the lake.
We must remove 140 houses and five small temples in Sakaki Nagar on the other side.” Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board (TNSCB) has provided Alternative accommodation for all families living along the lake in the housing unit in Thiru VI KA Nagar Kovaipur.
256 families in the region have been allocated 400SQFT flats, costs borne by the smart city mission.
Rejuvenation and rejuvenation projects are implemented with the cost of Rs 19.36 Crore along Lake Krishnampati.
As part of beauty work, cycle lines, plaza walkers and other recreational infrastructure will be developed around the lake.
The Civic body also plans to regulate a water treatment plant to treat wastewater before leaving it into the lake.
