Cotton farmers in Chamarajanagar and MySuru rejoice as a double price this year

Mysuru: Cotton farmers in the Chamarajanagar district and Mysuru smiled again because they got a bumper price for their harvest this year.
Cotton prices have multiplied when compared to previous years.
Last year, they sold it for Rs 60 per kg and now prices ranged between Rs 110 and 130, said Nagarajappa, Cotton Grower in Gundlupet Taluk Chamarajanagar Regency.
Farmers from the two districts have planted cotton around 22,123 hectares.
It is cultivated in Gundlupet Taluk, several bags of Chamarajanagar and Hanur Taluk in Chamarajanagar District, HD Kote, Hunsur, Saragur and Nanjagur Taluk in the MySore district.
At present, the state government announces the minimum support price of RS 5500 per quintal.
Varieties of Cotton BT Hybrid 140-180 such as Bahubali, Puli and Minerva, which were sprinkled in the areas that were given rain during the pre-monsoon shower reap the price of the bumper after harvesting in September.
Because most of the textile industries are located in Tirupur and eroded in Tamil Nadu where raw cotton is processed and threads exported to Bangladesh, local traders sell raw cotton to them after buying from regional farmers.
“Most of them have goodbye bids on traditional cotton varieties and choose for hybrid BT cotton because it resisted disease and faster results.
Local farmers will get more prices if the government sets a market for them locally, which will also avoid role roles Intermediary, “said the leader of the farmer Kurubur Shanthakumar to Ti.
Speaking to Toi, First Director of Agriculture Dr.
Mahantheshappa said many farmers fostered cotton in the old Mysuru until recently in around 60,000 hectares.
But now it goes down to around 30,000 hectares because of labor and rainforce problems are not season.
The textile industry bounces back and low results because the weak rainy season is some reason associated with bumper prices for cotton this year, he said.
