NEW DELHI: Mahindra’s affiliate SsangYong Motors has unveiled its first electric car Korando e-Motion globally, which entered full-scale production on June 14.
The EV, whose project name was E100, has been christened e-Motion, combining the ‘e’ of electric and the ‘motion’ from the idea of the driving force.
The company has also announced its next EV, a medium-sized SUV under the project name J100, with the plan of launching in 2022.
The full-scale production of the vehicle started on June 14.
SsangYong Motor’s line-up of SUVs includes Tivoli (compact SUV), Korando and J100 (mid-sized SUV), and Rexton (full-size).
According to Ssangyong, the Korando e-Motion will mark the expansion of its green car range.
The SsangYong Korando e-Motion could possibly be the rebadged Mahindra eXUV300 for the Indian market.
The homegrown carmaker is targeting a capital expenditure of 120 billion rupees over the next three years and planning to launch nine new vehicles by 2026, including electric vehicles.
