Countdown starts for Pancrayat polls in Bihar

Patna: countdown for the election to the Pancayati Raj Institution has begun with the State Election Commission (SEC) which recommends the schedule proposed to the Raj Pancayati Department for the approval of the State Cabinet.
“The schedule to choose around 2.59 representatives of the Pancayati Raj Institution will be announced after nodding in the country’s cabinet,” said a senior officer of the Raj Pancayati Department on Friday.
He confirmed that the department had received recommendations a few days ago.
“The proposal will be sent for permission from the state cabinet after a small change,” the officer said to this newspaper.
The Department of Department of Pancayati Raj, Samrat Choudhary, who was in Sheikhpura, said he had no knowledge of the letter sent to his department in seconds.
The minister, however, added that the department would support the Pancrayat poll if the Covid situation improved.
“If the situation remains profitable, the selection will be held,” he said.
According to SEC proposal, the election will be held between September and November in 10 phases.
The SEC has asked the district judge to complete the first-level inspection process from the electronic voting machine on August 20.
While the election for four posts – Mukhiya, a member of the ward, members of Panchayat Samiti and the District Council Board – will be detained through EVMS, ballot papers will be used for the selection of Sarpanch and Panch.
Meanwhile, the SEC has proposed the use of biometric voting technology to check fake voting.
Biometric devices will be installed on all polling booths for that purpose.
