Countless Kerala nurses Fooled by Occupation scam in UAE

Even as the need for physicians and other health care professionals surges across the globe in the aftermath of this Covid-19 outbreak, a scam of deceptive agents duping hundreds of nurses in Kerala from the United Arab Emirates was recently found.
Many physicians have found themselves stranded at the Arab state after being enticed by unscrupulous brokers with guarantees of well-paying endeavors.

“The victims fell victim to unscrupulous brokers who lured them into the UAE with false claims.
They moved into the nation through an illegal course with individuals’ visas that doesn’t let them operate there.
We’re in the process of exploring the modus operandi of those criminals in addition to helping the sufferers,” an official by NORKA Roots, the Kerala state government agency responsible for the welfare of NRIs in the nation, informed TIMESOFINDIA.

As stated by the rules introduced by the ministry of external affairs, all recruits for overseas tasks that need emigration clearance, both the overseas company and the licensed and accredited broker need to register themselves to the authorities eMigrate portal site and find all required clearances and records before applicants may proceed abroad.

Even the NORKA official added that although there was a huge spike in demand for health care professionals in Kerala in Gulf nations as a result of pandemic and big Legislation requirements, there have been impediments due to travel constraints, quarantine regulations and delay processing newspapers because of large number of programs.
“This has caused a significant increase in prohibited actions and scams of sending health care employees to the UAE,” the officer stated.

NORKA ROOTS is the sole qualified agency, under the authorities of Kerala, authorised by the ministry of external affairs to ease international recruitment of distinct types of employees from the country including nurses, physicians, physicians, and housemaids for overseas companies in Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nations.

Several health care services firms in the UAE have stepped up to give a supporting hand into the Indian physicians that have fallen prey to the current recruiting scam and are still stranded in the overseas nation.
For example, VPS Healthcare, among the biggest health care teams in the UAE, has supplied job supplies to 90 of those nurses and health care workers.
Forty-one health care employees have joined VPS hospitals in distinct Emirates.

Ambily Mangattukunnel Balakrishnan is just one such victim.
An experienced and registered nurse in Kottayam in Kerala and mom using a seven-year-old,” Balakrishnan was enticed by a job offer she discovered on a societal networking website.

“The ad promised a project for vaccination obligation in Dubai in a salary of 4,500 Dirhams each month and absolutely free lodging and meals.
I had been enticed by the wages since I must support my loved ones,” Balakrishnan informed TIMESOFINDIA.

She needed to cover the broker Rs two lakh and came in Dubai to a tourist visa in March together with a number of different nurses.

“We were originally requested to remain in quarantine for a couple of weeks and then, there were not any attempts to provide us provide letters or put us in physicians.
We also realised we didn’t have the necessary licences to operate here and was scammed,” she added.
But, Balakrishnan has become relieved as she has work in a VPS hospital.
The team has been getting job applications from many nurses that are stranded at UAE within the previous four months.

“We’ve given particular consideration to qualified healthcare workers who’ve been trapped for quite a while and are facing fiscal difficulties.
Forty-one health employees who have finished the practice of a particular interview have joined the hospitals beneath VPS Healthcare,” Sanjai Kumar, chief human resources officer in VPS Healthcare, stated.
Healthcare workers who don’t own a legal medical license will combine the hospital for a patient aide or support helper.

VPS Healthcare chairman and managing director, Dr Shamsheer Vayalil, has also taught his staff to offer all possible help to qualified trainee physicians to get licences.

“We’ll be helping them in calculating the necessary licences.
Along with people who had joined us49 more would be linking our healthcare staff upon issuance of job visas.
All of the relevant costs, such as their RT-PCR tests along with the typical regulatory expenditures, are being cared for VPS Healthcare as a particular circumstance,” Kumar added.

Dr S Irudaya Rajanan expert on immigration problems and also chairman of the International Institute of Migration and Development at Trivandrum, believes that the central administration must relax the coverage of migration to healthcare employees from Kerala and reevaluate some of their reliable private representatives to procedure documentation after assessing their qualifications.

“Many physicians in Kerala have invested a great deal of cash on their training and education and have obtained loans that were big.
They finally have a chance to work abroad in a post-Covid situation when health care providers are in amazing need,” Rajan said.
“However, the authorities procedure for moving to work abroad is awkward and requires quite a while, which explains the reason why many are falling prey to scams”
Meanwhile, according to a report from PTI in Kochi, the Kerala Police past Saturday took recruitment bureau owner Firoz Khan along with his two aides into custody for fraud.
Khan’s recruitment service, Take Away, had flown physicians into the UAE on a visit visa rather than a job visa as needed.

They had been taken into custody in Kozhikode while still trying to escape Delhi.
The three were captured dependent on a complaint filed by Reena Rajan, a nurse in Kollam’s Pathanapuram.
She approached the bureau after seeing an advertisement on recruiting of nurses into the UAE.
More than 500 physicians were cheated from the bureau, nurses Reena Rajan and Susan Saji stated in a complaint about the chief minister of Kerala along with law enforcement.
