Thiruvananthapuram: Defending Steps to Change Actions, Law and Industry Lok Ayukta, Minister Pajeeve said that the state could decide how Lok Ayukta in a country must function and the country empowered to change Lok Ayankta Act.
He said that Local Act himself said that the state could decide how Lok Ayukta had to function, and regulations did not need to be forwarded to the President to make him legal.
Those who claim that the regulation requires the president’s approval of living in the pre-2013 period because in 2013 that the parliament passed the Local Bill, he said.
The minister’s statement came after opposition to ask the governor to continue the regulation to the President for his approval.
He said that when an amendment was brought in 2000 in ACT, the president’s assistant was not sought.
The power to control Lok Ayukta is fully determined in the state government and constitutional provisions cannot be overcome through the law, he said.
Regarding the opposition registered by the CPI that the problem was not discussed in LDF, the minister said that the problem was discussed in the cabinet, and was a collective decision.
