Country policy for children: TN prioritizes child protection

Chennai: After a recent suicide by a female student in Coimbatore, the Tamil Nadu government on Saturday released Tamil Nadu state policy for children 2021 to ensure the prevention and protection of children of all forms of violence, harassment and exploitation.
The policy says every child must have access to quality health and education services and will be free to express his views on any issue about him.
The policy, which was released in Chennai by chairman M St Stalin, said, “The government will introduce and adopt children’s protection policies in all Panchayats and urban bodies to create a child’s safe room throughout the Tamil Nadu state.” He also wants to introduce child safety policies in all schools to make all schools safe for children.
Form an internal complaint committee in all schools based on the Posh Law (female sexual harassment at work (prevention, prohibition, and change) Law, 2013) and strengthen existing child protection systems such as the Child Level Child Protection Committee and Child Protection Committee and conduct campaign awareness of all forms of violence against children and its negative impacts on children, laws / institutions to be accessed or approachable for recovery, the application of the highest safety and safety standards in all child care agencies, building children’s protection systems The preventive, promoting effective enforcement of laws is some of the recommended steps to protect children in the policy.
This shows an increase in rehabilitation services under the child protection system with a special focus on mental health and psycho-social support and ensuring the privacy of children who need care and protection, adequate budget allocations proportionally.
This policy suggests the creation of Sabhas reinforcements in all grams of Panchayats where all children in the age group 12 to 18 are members and they will meet at least four times a year such as the Sabhas gram and provide resolutions relating to children and hand them over to children -The child and hand it to grams.
Sabha takes the appropriate action.
The government said the policy would be applied by developing a comprehensive work plan with consulting all shareholders such as government institutions, civil society organizations and academic institutions and children.
