Kalyan: A 52-year-old man in Dombivli in the Thane Maharashtra district has decided not to celebrate his 50-year-old birthday on Monday.
Instead, the couple donated Rs 5 Lakh, which he had saved, to help victims of flood countries.
Some Maharashtra districts including Ratnagiri, Sangli, Kolhapur, and Raigad have witnessed severe flooding which leads to loss of life and property.
Sujata Patil and her husband Vinayak (52) are developers by the profession and live in the Davdi area in Dombivli (East).
They handed over Rs 5 Lakh to Shiv Sena Leader Rajesh, where party leaders buy 1,000 food packages and send them for flood victims.
Vinayak told Tii, “This year my wife turned 50 and because it was one important day in our lives, I had planned to celebrate her birthday.” He further said, “Seeing the suffering of people because of flooding in the Conkkan and Western Maharashtra region, we decided to cancel the birthday plan and donate money saved for the leaders of Shiv Sena’s dombivi who sent assistance to flood victims.” Sujata, who was happy with her husband’s decision to say, “I was really happy that my husband thought about the people affected by the flood and it was the biggest gift in my life from him.” Sujata appealed that other people must also advance to help people affected by flooding.
Dombesh City President Shiv Sena, Rajesh said more, “We have arranged 10,000 grassland kits and 2,000 drinking water boxes where the patil family helped us Rs 5 lakh for 1000 grassland kits that we sent to 15 trucks.
