Vadodara: In another incident of the mass justice in the Gujarat tribal belt, the young couple from the Chhota Udepur was tied with trees and cruelly hit by villagers on Tuesday.
The couple fell in love and escaped from their village to get married a few days ago, but the locals trace them on Tuesday morning.
The Chhota Udepur police arrested nine people in connection with the incident.
Last month too, the pair was whipped in the udepur chhota because it was in a relationship.
Keena Dhanun was eighteen years old, a resident of Chaliyavant Village, told the police that he had a relationship with Arvind Dhanuk who lived in the same village.
On July 18, Keena and Arvind, who were 18 years old, fled their homes to get married.
The duo reached Kanchetpani Village and lived in the Arvind relatives’ house.
The police said Arvind’s relatives reached Kenena’s house and threatened their parents to track the duo.
On Monday morning, Uncle Ms.
Arvind Dalianyiya Dhanuk reached Kanchetpani along with three other people after he got information that the couple hid there.
But before Daliya could catch them, both Arvind and Keena fled to the nearby forest.
On Tuesday morning, Daliya, Gordhan Dhanuk, Raju Rathwa and Resham Dhanuk returned to Kanchetpani when the couple slept at Startan Dhanuk’s house.
The four then dragged Arvind and Keena came out of the house, forcing them to sit on their motorcycle and take them back to Chaliyavant.
They tied partners with trees and whipped them brutally with a stick.
One of the accused, Arvind Dhanuk made the video of the incident where Keena was seen crying because of illness and asking for help.
After the video became a viral on Tuesday, the Chhota Udepur police took action and filed a brilliant against the defendant at the Rangpur police station.
“We have arrested all the accused of nine of Chaliyavant village.
They opposed the marriage when Arvind was previously thrown with another girl,” said N M Bhuriya, police sub-inspector, Rangpur police station.
