Mumbai: condemning a brutal rape and the murder of a woman in Saki Naka, Chairman of the Minister of Uddhav Thackeray on Saturday announced a quick trial in this case while directing the Mumbai police to accelerate the investigation and ensure that the chargesheet in this case was submitted in a month.
.
Preparing the incident of “disgrace to humanity”, Thackeray called for an urgent meeting of senior IPS officers from Mumbai on Saturday night.
CM said the image of Mumbai from a safe city should not be stained.
“A special prosecutor must be appointed for this case from tomorrow, without waiting for the case to be accepted into court.
The hardest punishment must be sought for the perpetrator.
We must present a classic example of a quick justice, so no one dares to do something like that again,” said Thackeray.
CM says all evidence, including forensics and electronics, must be submitted in court and there should be no irregularities that will make the case weak.
To make the city safer for women, Thackeray has directed the ‘Nirbhaya’ squad setting with the participation of female police officers even at the police station and they must patrol the vulnerable areas in the city.
Help must be taken from NGOs and homelessers and alone women must be shifted to a safer area and the police must supervise in these places, Thackeray said, adding strict alertness must be maintained from sex predators and syrup history.
Also, considering that CCTVs play an important role in overseeing the city, the second phase of installing CCTV in the city must immediately begin to discuss the remaining areas so far.
Meanwhile, opposition leader Devendra Fadnivis on Saturday said cases of crime against women were reported more often in the state.
He demanded a quick trial in the case and death sentence for the perpetrators.
CM must meet with the main justice of the Bombay High Court and demanding a fast trajectory court specifically for this case, he said.
“Even though, it was for court to decide on punishment, we demanded that the culprit must be hung,” said Fadnivis.
He further said the police’s moral was low due to controversy in their department.
“When the disciplined police are misused by the government to serve political and commercial interests, it weakens the institutions and the impact of law and order,” he said.
(The identity of the victim has not been revealed to protect its privacy according to the direction of the Supreme Court about cases related to sexual violence)
