Ranchi: With more than 50 cases of Delta Variant Plus Covid-19 detected in 12 states in the country, the State Health Department, family welfare and medical education have decided to treat all history-19 patients with history of travel to these countries at the Covid treatment center.
Speaking with Toi, officers about the special task for the State Health Department, Siddharth Tripathi, said: “People test positive after traveling to one of the 12 states where the Delta Plus variant has been confirmed will shift directly to the Covid Care Center for care.
Such patients will not be allowed for insulation of houses and they will be under hospital care.
“In accordance with the Ministry of Health Union, Maharashtra has reported the number of Delta Plus (22) cases followed by Tamil Nadu (9), Madhya Pradesh (7), Kerala (3), Punjab and Gujarat (2 each), and one case in Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana and Karnataka.
Apart from the receipt of mandatory hospitals, the State Health Department has also decided to increase supervision to detect new variants and have directed district authorities and trains and airports to intensify passenger screening and testing from affected countries.
The meeting in this case was carried out on Friday where senior health department officials, district administration and train officials compiled modalities to increase screening in the heart and Ranchi train station.
Meanwhile, Vigil has increased at Birsa Munda International Airport, and the people who come from 12 countries have to test Covid and if they test positively, they have to shift to the Covid-19 hospital.
“We have directed all deputy commissioners and civil surgeons to consider all new cases as Delta Plus variants,” said a senior health department official.
With Delta Plus variants referred to as a variant of concern (VOC) by the Ministry of Health Union, the State Health Department has also set a target of sending 300 samples every two weeks for genome sequencing at the Institute of Life Sciences (ILS) in Bhubaneswar.
“We have directed all eight Sentinel sites that conduct Covid-19 tests to send 15 samples each for the genome sequencing every two weeks which will be 240 samples per month.
In addition, we will also send 60 samples selected randomly for sequencing The genome so that if there are patients infected with virus mutating, we can track it earlier.
In addition, anyone’s sample tests positive and have a history of travel from the country with the Delta Plus variant will also be sent to the genome sequencing within 24 hours, “Tripathi said.
Because he was asked when Jharkhand would start a genome sequencing in the state when the sample delivery process to ILS was time consuming, Tripathi said that ICMR had approved their proposal to establish a genome sequence laboratory here and work in this case starting soon.
Critical Care Experts and Rims Trauma Center Head Dr.
Pradip Bhattacharya said: “Early detection and isolation followed by immediate care is the only way to prevent the distribution of Delta Plus variants.
With early detection, I mean screening everyone who travels from an infected area.
Apart from that, strict contact contacts must be done in each case detected because this variant infection is very high.
