Pune: The supply of covaxin to the location of the government managed vaccination will streamline this month, said the Public Health Department official.
This will increase the vaccination of the first dose recipient, because the focus amid low supply is to cover the second dose recipient.
Covishield, which has been given to more than 90% of the total 62 Lakh beneficiaries in this district, is still in a short supply at the location of the government-managed vaccination, officials said.
Sanjay Deshmukh, Assistant Director (Medical), Pune Circle, told Tii, “the district receives a stable supply of more than 46,000 covaxin doses and around 52,000 covishield doses on August 3 and more doses are expected on Saturdays.
Now, more beneficiaries Covishield is scheduled for the second dose, the first dose of Covaxin can be available.
We have advised this to Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad Civic Bodies.
“Suryakant Devkar, Pune Civic’s body immunization officer, said some special drives that offer Covishield now use Covaxin.
“We can’t stop the drive specifically due to lack of covishiled.
So, we offer Covaxin to the recipient now.
The drawback has affected more than 190 vaccination sites at the civilian limits,” he said.
Meanwhile, the district only vaccinated 26,680 beneficiaries on Friday due to a short supply of covishield doses.
Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) officials said they would only do covaxin encouragement on seven sites on Saturday, while Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corproations (PCMC) officials said they would also drive Covaxin at eight vaccination sites.
