MYSURU: Government-run Cheluvamba hospital, among the earliest in the nation and a part of Mysuru Medical College and Research Institute (MMCRI), will shortly initiate Covaxin clinical trials among children and young adults at the age category 2 to 18 decades. MMCRI’s human moral committee has given consent for this trial. CP Nanjaraj, dean and director of this institute as well as Doctor HB Shashidhar, member secretary of the committee, stated Cheluvamba hospital is among five sites chosen for the offense throughout the state. It is the only hospital in the country chosen for clinical trials of this Covid-19 vaccine. The Drugs Controller General of India had accepted Bharat Biotech’s proposition to check the vaccine on people under 18 years May 13. Dr Prashanth and also Dr Pradeep are appointed chief investigators. “It is going to be stage 2 and 3 samples of this vaccine. It’ll be completed at the hospital with precautions. The whole trial is going to be tracked by a panel of specialists,” explained Dr Shashidhar. The amount of topics for trials is not yet been determined. According to the program, originally the trial will be run among kids from the age group of 12 to 18 decades. At the next semester, the vaccine is going to be attempted on kids from the age group 6 months to 12 decades. Afterwards the dosages will be administered to children between 2 and 6 decades old. Cheluvamba hospital, started in 1880, was part of many vaccine trials such as DPT vaccine. The clinic is fully equipped to perform the trials.
