Madurai / Trichy: The number of Active Covid-19 cases in Madurai crossed 2,000 to touch 2,193 on Wednesday, only two days after reaching 1,000 marks.
This is the highest in the district since June 18.
In 498 new cases on Wednesday, there was a marginal decline of 512 cases recorded on Tuesday.
Only 52 recovery was recorded that day.
No Covid-19 death recorded in the district for the past two days.
Trichy recorded a minor increase in new cases when posted 444 as against 437 on Tuesday.
The number of active cases in the district crosses 2,000 and touches 2,008 with a debit of 47 patients.
2,296 new cases were recorded in ten southern districts, the highest in the region a day since June 13.
Madurai was attended by Tirunelveli (451), Kanyakumari (388), Virudhunagar (389) and Ramanathapuram (116).
Tenkasi (9) recorded at least in America.
Dindigul (72), Sivaganga (75) and Theni (87) also added less than 100 new cases in the region.
The number of active cases in this region rose to 8,902 with 414 recovery.
Two Covid-19 deaths recorded in this region, including each in Tuticorin and Kanyakumari.
The death toll at Trichy Regency and the central area consisting of nine districts remained unchanged without recorded accidents.
Meanwhile, this region reported 934 cases on Wednesday, down from 949 on Tuesday while active cases surged to 4,285 from 3,516 during that period.
