MySuru: Almost a half years after they took the road to go home, laborers from North India returned to Mysuru to continue their work.
Migrants from North India are mostly labor in the informal sector in the city: from work as a mechanics in the garage to the food train that offers a variety of snacks and Samut, workers from North India play a major role in moving local economic machinery.
More importantly, they help bridge the big gap in the demand for labor given by the reluctance of locals to work in the informal sector.
Babu Prasad, a 20-year-old child from Bihar, worked at a fuel station at JLB Road.
Because this is the first time he is in Karnataka, Prasad is not familiar with Kannada.
“I came to Mysuru with my friends looking for work last month.
Because I can’t find a job at any factory, I work at the station for now,” said Prasad, who pursued a certificate course in car technology.
Residents showed that, with the Covid-19 case on a decline, more food carts mushroomed along the side of the city road.
North Indian children who run this cart leave city food lovers pampered for choice.
Heera Ram, who run a food cart near the city bus stand, arrived in the inheritance city two weeks ago.
“I got income from Rs 700 to Rs 900 per day.
I opened my shop around 12:30 a.m., and close around 9pm.
I hired a cart from a local vendor.
I came to Mysuru after many of my friends told me that it was Better than Bengaluru, “Ram added.
The President of the Association of Mysuru District, President C Narayana Gowda showed that most workers in the city restaurant came from North India, most of whom had returned to continue their work.
“We have employees from Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, all of which have returned.
We pay them what we use before the Covid outbreak,” Gowda added.
President of the National Real Estate Development Board M Satish Kumar said that workers in the construction industry had not returned to Mysuru.
“Local workers demand more wages who know that this sector is faced with a problem,” he was rued.
