GREATER NOIDA: As many as 200 people were administered Covid-19 vaccine at a special vaccination camp held for the disabled, elderly and transgenders at Greater Noida’s Vikas Bhawan on Monday.
Shailendra Bahadur Singh, district social welfare officer, said, “Though we had booked a slot of 250 just in case there were more people who turned up, we vaccinated a total of 200 people.” Among the beneficiaries, 70 were senior citizens, 50 were from disabled category and 11 were from the transgender community who had come from Greater Noida, Dadri and Dankaur areas.
As many as 69 employees of the district social welfare department were also inoculated at the camp.
The camp was inaugurated by Gautam Buddh Nagar district magistrate Suhas LY, who gave the vaccination certificate to specially-abled Manoj Kumar.
This was the first camp in the district especially for the elderly, disabled and transgenders.
Ram Kali, a transgender from Greater Noida, said, “There are many from my community who came today from Dadri, Bisrakh, Dankaur and Jewar.
We are very happy with the arrangements here.
I will try to convince more people from my community to get vaccinated.”
