New Delhi: Starting Monday, almost 11 Lakh beneficiaries will begin receiving third or ‘caution doses’ in Delhi.
The online appointment of those who qualified for the dose of a vaccine booster against Covid-19 has begun on Saturday, but registration will also be carried out in vaccination centers Monday.
The third dose will be given to Delhiites aged 60 years or more, which has comorbidity, health workers, and frontline workers who have taken the second dose of their vaccines nine months ago.
While the number of beneficiaries that will be eligible to receive Booster’s shot on Monday itself is around three lakh, the number of beneficiaries will get a dose as and when they complete nine months since their second dose, almost 11 lakh.
Beneficiaries include Delhies 3.8 lakh aged 60 years or more and has comorbidity, 2.6 lakh health services, and 4.4 lakh frontline workers.
Health workers and frontline workers received vaccine doses during the first phase of the drive, which began on January 16, 2021.
As a result, most of these beneficiaries qualified for the third dose.
Their vaccination aged 60 years and over starting from March last year and the total population in this age group is around 21 lakh, where 3.8 lakh has comorbidity, according to government data.
Many of these beneficiaries, especially those who receive covishield, complete their second dose later and have not resolved the mandatory gap nine months.
Those third doses will mature in the coming days will receive an SMS from the Cowin system.
However, beneficiaries do not need to open a new account because the existing Cowin account will be used to order promises, and also to receive a digital vaccination certificate.
Beneficiaries will receive the third dose of the same vaccine that has been given for the previous two doses.
“Private hospitals that function as vaccination centers can vaccinate their staff (doctors, paramedics, etc.) in their own hospital,” circular issued by the Directorate of Welfare of the Delhi Family Government.
