Pune: The number of active Covid-19 cases in the Pune Metropolitan area jumped up to eight months 49 917 on Friday, with the majority (96%) showed mild symptoms and remained in house isolation.
PMR added 10,076 Covid-19 cases on Friday, including 5,480 from the Pune City Limit, 2,562 from the Pimpri Chinchwad area and 2,034 from the rural and Cantonese section.
In addition, 4,272 people recovered in this region in the last 24 hours, including 2,674 release from PMC limits only.
A report by Health Officers Bhagwan Pawar stated that 38,692 samples were tested in the region on Friday.
More than 20,000 tests were carried out within the PMC limit, while 11,512 samples were checked within the PCMC limit.
Health officials said despite the increase in positive cases since the last few days, cases in hospital care have not increased significantly and the majority of patients (48,020) are in home care.
Only 1,897 patients in this region were in hospital care until Friday night, said health officials.
Experts say with the majority of patients in home care, sufficient health infrastructure at this time.
“It also shows that natural vaccines and immunity work support the people and maintain the lightest infection.
However, the authorities must remain ready for a dramatic increase in patients who are hospitalized to avoid the repetition of the second wave, which occurs because of the Delta variant of the virus,” said a health expert.
The active case count within the PMC limit increased to 28,542 on Friday, while the PCMC area had more than 12,500 active patients.
The region reported two deaths because Covid on Friday.
One patient each died in PMC and the rural part.
No deaths reported within the PCMC limit.
The progressive positive count of the area reached 12.29 lakh on Friday night, while recovery increased above 11.60 lakh.
