DHAKA: Bangladesh government has chosen to expand the continuing ban on people traveling through land ports to India until June 14 in light of the continuing Covid-19 pandemic.
Amid the growth in Covid-19 instances from the area, Bangladesh’s land boundary was closed with India because April 26.
May 31 was likely to be the final day of this ban, but the ban has been extended once more, Dhaka Tribune reported.
It includes a decision was taken at a meeting chaired by the nation’s foreign secretary on Saturday.
The government has decided to prevent traveling via two land ports to block the spread of this virus.
The newly-closed land vents together with India have been Darshana of Chuadanga and Sona masjid of Chapainawabganj.
Darshana port is going to be closed for a week, even whereas Sona Masjid for fourteen days.
But, cargo motion will remain as normal.
Though land vents are closed with India, stranded Bangladeshis can come home from other property vents namely Benapole, Agartala, Hili and Burimari.
Meanwhile, the export-import of merchandise will be permitted.
This decision was accepted as Bangladesh has been experiencing a growth in Covid-19 related deaths.
The health authorities in the nation say the disease rate is revealing a notable upward tendency in areas which share boundaries with or are near India, Dhaka Tribune reported.
Bangladesh has filed 34 longer Covid-19 deaths, carrying the nation’s toll on 12,583.
The complete number of illnesses currently stands at 7,98,830.
