For the sixth day in a row, the cases remained under 50,000 while death had not yet violated a 1,000 mark for seven consecutive days.
Wednesday saw 45,951 cases and 734 deaths because the second wave continued to rode.
There is a mixed pattern at the global level.
While India and the US continue to report a decline in cases, there seems to be a surge in Colombia, Brazil, Russia and England.
At present, there are six countries where the latest data available in everyday cases have exceeded a 20,000 mark.
These include India, Colombia, Brazil, Indonesia, Russia and England.
Kerala is the only country that saw more than 10,000 cases on Wednesday.
The state reported 13,658 new cases in the last 24 hours and was attended by Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Andhra, Karnataka and Odisha – each reported more than 3,000 new cases.
