Guwahati: In the midst of a surge in the pace of covid in Guwahati, Cotton University (Cu) has suspended offline classes until January 31.
The State Government has not canceled classes outside the class VIII but the CU government made a decision independently to prevent spreads from viruses on campus which has 3,000 registered students.
According to Covid Curbs Force, the physical presence to class VIII in Guwahati and up to class V elsewhere in the country has been limited to January 30.
“All class UG and PG, including Liberal BA art will be held online with direct effects until January.
31, 2022.
Depends on the applicable situation, further notification will be issued about class mode starting 1, 2022,” Read the notification issued by Cu.
It was said all the award and PG class would be scheduled from 9am to 12 noon.
The head of each department has been asked to complete the departmental routine.
UG Fifth Semester Endsem Exisinations will be held offline according to the schedule that has been published during this period.
The hostel will open only for the 5th semester UG exam.
Meanwhile, the surge in Covid cases has demonstrated the most aggressive nature in Assam where the level of testicitivity (TPR) on Monday crossed 10% for the first time since the plague of pandemic in March 2020.
A senior health department official said that greater concern was 11 Covid fatality reported in the state on Monday.
Covid recovery rate fell to 95.18% from 95.85% the previous day.
After testing increased to 64,919 on Monday, the daily peposititiveness rate touched 10.75%.
A total of 6,982 positive cases have been detected in the last 24 hours.
Health experts and director of medical education, Assam, Dr.
Anup Kumar Barman said, “This virus has spread in the community.
Everyday cases will most likely rise in the next few days and the people with co-morbid conditions will remain most vulnerable,” he said on Monday.
