Sydney: Australian officials on Friday warned Sydney residents to prepare for a surge in Covid-19 cases after the largest city record infection in the country for the second consecutive day even though it was reduced by the Delta variant outbreak.
“Only based on the trend in the last few days and where the situation, I expect a higher case number in the next few days and I just want everyone ready for it,” New South Wales Premier Gladys Kadiklian told reporters in Sydney, the country’s capital , Sydney reported a record of 279 Covid-19 cases obtained locally during the last 24 hours, up from the previous high of 259 the day before.
New South Wales reported a record of 291 cases, up from 262, with one new death, raising the total country to 22 in the latest outbreak, all in Sydney.
