Covid-19: Delta variant is too able to drive waves

Bengaluru: While the Omicron variant has taken the middle stage in discussions related to third wave, experts worried that there is a possibility that the omicron and delta variants contribute to the surge.
During the panel discussion entitled ‘Variant, Vaccine, and US’ held on Thursday, experts and doctors debate the possibility of deltas and omicron co-circulations, which means not all infections will be mild.
“I really doubt Omicron will replace the Delta variant.
We may have both pirates,” said Virology from Jacob John, a former director, the ICMR advanced research center in Virology.
He said the next two months would be very important in understanding how the pandemic was revealed.
Dr.
V Ramasubramanian, a specialist of infectious diseases, Apollo Hospital, Chennai, said that typical to South Africa ‘sexperience, fever, cold, itchy, sore throat and the difficulty of swallowing had become a symptom in the majority of people who contracted the virus.
“Patients demand antibiotics for sore throats, and I think we can use more antibiotics now than before.
If a patient does not get better at the age of four or fifth, someone needs to supervise a patient like that,” he said.
Given the clinical experience during the second wave, Dr.
Ramasubramanian said that in the current wave, the infection is largely limited to the upper respiratory tract and does not affect the lungs in most patients.
“Despite low chances of viral pneumonia with Omicron, the CTSCAN report tells us that 20-30% of the involvement of lungs can occur in a number of cases.
But this is light, and the patient recovers well,” he said.
If the RT-PCR test of the patient along with the S-Gen target failure test shows that it is not an Omicron, then it gives a doctor’s instructions about whether to use monoclonal antibodies, which have been proven effective against the Delta variant, he said.
Virologically Dr.
V Ravi said the Omicron variant itself evolved and the subinage appeared.
“More than 20% of Omicron cases can lose the S-Gene target test.
But they might turn into Omicron in the genome sequencing study.
So, we need testing kits that detect drop s-gene and specific mutations in the Omicron variant.
Omisure is one Kit like that, “he said.
Dr.
John added: “If not for Omicron, we might be in the endemic phase in India.
Omicron seems anomaly.
The frequency of anomalies is very rare.
The infection that spreads faster, the faster it will recede.” Children deserve Vaxdr John emphasize the need to launch Covid-19 vaccine for children.
“Children deserve to be vaccinated against SARS-COV2.
Very safe vaccines need to be launched,” he said, adding that children over two years must be entered earlier in the immunization process.
