Covid-19: Despite Rain, Assam Govt Hopes to Meet 8 Lakh Vaccination Targets

Guwahati: The rain plays Spoilsport in the third mega vaccination drive in Assam on Saturday even though the State Health Department has set an 8 lakh-shot inoculation target.
Apart from all the opportunities, 6.36 lakh people were vaccinated from morning to 7pm, Nodal officer of the country’s vaccination of Covid-19, Munindra Nath Ngaty, told TII.
With the achievement of mega drives, 2.47 doses of crore have been given in the state, even as the target estimated at first is to invest 2.31 crores in the age group 18+ with both doses.
As many as 1.88 crore people have got the first JAD, while 59.08 lakh has received a second dose to date in Assam.
The Nagaon district in the center of Assam appeared as the best player for the second consecutive occasion (since the last mega drive on September 17).
Until 7pm on Saturday, 55,553 people were vaccinated in Nagaon against the target of 50,000, followed by Dhubri (40,194 doses), Tinsukia (39,273) and Kamrup-Metro (38,699).
Carchar Regency at Barak Valley has also set a 50,000 vaccination target on Saturday but due to bad weather, only 27,772 people inoculated in the district until 7pm.
The highest target is set for cachar and nagaon because these two districts have the largest population – 4.57 lakh each and 4.32 lakh – who have not received the first jab.
In two hill districts, West Anglong carriage and Dima released, the lowest vaccination of 2,986 and 3,785, was achieved.
The land report by the Ministry of Health officials stated that the rain has largely influenced vaccination in the Dima of Reloos, Cachar, Hailakandi, Golaghat and West Anglong Caratory District.
The Source of the Ministry of Health said Saturday’s inoculation figures will be updated until Sunday night because the compilation of reports from remote corners is still on.
“A total of 98 percent of the 8 lachh vaccination target was finally achieved in the last mega vaccination drive.
We hope to cross the 7 lakh target this time,” added Ngatey.
The Director of Assam NHM Dr.
Lakshmania said that more than 6,000 Covid-19 vaccination centers were activated for Mega Drive.
“Many districts have done well in the current vaccination drive.
Inoculation of a large number in one day is a moral booster for our workers who are ready to intensify further vaccination drives,” he added.
