Covid-19: Don’t panic; Children are fine

Numbers show there is no cause of alarm because more children are not infected with covid
After the second wave of Covid saw its peak, rumors that children might be most affected during the spread of the third wave.

According to statistics accessed by Bangalore Mirror, 510 young patients in the age group 0-19 were contracted by Covid-19 between July 22-31 and 505 between August 1 to 10.
At an average of 50 children were infected every day.
Compared to the overall Covid-19 case in other age groups, 13.3 percent of cases reported every day are young patients under the age of 19.
BBMP Special Commissioner (Health), D Randeep, said: “We do not see an increase in infection in children.
Absolute numbers will not reflect the actual picture.

Randeep clarified that there was a zero pediatric death in Bengaluru in the last 10 days.

Meanwhile, the Covid case saw a slight increase in Karnataka with 1,826 new cases including 377 in Bengaluru.
Dakshina Kannada has the highest Covid case in the state with 422.
The increase in cases is partly due to an increase in testing as 1.67 lakh tests carried out in one day compared to 1.2 lakh the previous day.
4 Covid Crore tests in Karnataka so far

Then, multi-tier testing strategies such as fast antigen testing, RT-PCR, True-Nat (both screening & confirmation) and CB-NAAT testing is included to achieve maximum testing capacity.
