New Delhi: Indian scientists, in partnership with experts from China, Russia and Brazil, will conduct sequencing SARS-COV-2 genomy and work on epidemiology and modeling Mathematics Pandemic Covid-19.
“It will help track genetic mutations, a combination and distribution of viruses and also make predictions about the future of its spread,” said the Ministry of Science and Technology in a statement on Friday, while announcing a collaborative approach between.
Countries under the Research and Multilateral Multilateral Research and Development Project.
“This study will provide a general platform to share and analyze data from four different countries and understand the route of deployment and dynamics of viral transmission,” he said.
Full sequencing genomes are needed to identify genetic mutations and recombination of coronavirus, while epidemiological studies can help assess their distribution.
On the other hand, mathematical modeling is needed to assess the spread of Covid-19 in the future.
Under joint research, Indian and Brazilians will assess the distribution of SARS-COV-2 in environmental samples through metagenome analysis for the supervision of wastewater-based epidemiology (WBE).
Chinese and Russian scientists will detect real-time PCRs from SARS-COV-2 in biological material (nasopharynx wiping) from patients with symptoms of respiratory diseases and investigating genome variability, genomics and comparative phylogenetic analysis.
“Genome data, metagenomics and epidemiologists from India, China, Russia and Brazil will be integrated to develop mathematical models for mutation analysis, population genetics, phylogenetic relationships, recombination analysis and risk evaluation to reveal the distribution network and viral dynamics,” the ministry said.
This step will help track virus routes and dynamics.
The database developed by various groups will also compare the distribution and survival of the virus in various regions and establish supervision of the relevant early warning system.
The collaborative research plan has been developed considering the power of international collaborators from the Microbiology Institute, China of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Federal Research Center of Fundamental Medicine and Russian Translation and the Respiratory Virus and Measles Laboratory, Oswaldo Cruz Institute of Brazil.
